Los Angeles, January 29, 2024 – Today, The Fairchilds, led by acclaimed singer-songwriter Cyril Niccolai, proudly announced the release of their latest single, “We Are One.” This powerful anthem is a celebration of unity, dedication, and the indomitable spirit of athletes worldwide, timed perfectly with the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
Niccolai, a seasoned artist known for his roles in musicals and as the creative force behind The Fairchilds, draws parallels between the worlds of music and sports. Having been a competitive tennis player in his youth, he has always admired athletes for their unwavering dedication, laser-focused mindset, and core values. In “We Are One,” Niccolai aims to inspire the world by combining his two passions—music and sports.
“The title came first, ‘We Are One,’ seemed perfectly appropriate to the occasion and to the message I wanted to convey. ‘We can be heroes if we’re united,’” says Niccolai. The lyrics delve into the mindset of athletes before their moment to shine, exploring their thoughts, the pressure they feel, and the culmination of years of training—all leading up to that pivotal moment.
The song, written and recorded between the picturesque landscapes of the south of France and the vibrant energy of Los Angeles, captures the essence of unity and resilience. Niccolai collaborated with his friend Mathieu Lecat, and the duo effortlessly brought the song to life. The initial demo version, infused with Niccolai’s raw vocals, maintained a special tone that perfectly suited the anthem’s emotional depth.
Cyril Niccolai, the creative force behind The Fairchilds, has a rich background in musicals and rock bands, including his portrayal of Gringoire in “Notre Dame de Paris” and roles in “Gone With The Wind” and “Romeo et Juliette.” He has also starred as Jesus in the US production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” In addition to his stage presence, Niccolai has written and produced songs for other artists and for The Fairchilds.
The Fairchilds’ debut album, “Our Revolution,” received critical acclaim upon its US release, and their second album, “Let it Out,” was released in 2021.
“We Are One” by The Fairchilds serves as a rallying cry for unity, a testament to the power of coming together, and an anthem that resonates with the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The single will be released on all major streaming platforms on February 2nd, 2024.

"THE SUN IN THE STORM" NEW VIDEO

This one holds a very special place in my heart.
It was one of the first songs written for "Let it out". I wrote it in my apartment in Paris. The basic structure came pretty quickly, did a rough demo and went on to the next one. Listening back to the demo a couple of months later, I remember still liking the song but the production was way too "punk", it needed some space to breathe. It's not a secret that I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan, I have spent countless hours dissecting their songs and so I've produced the song as if Jon Bon Jovi would come sing on it. Yes, I know, "They say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one"!
In the end, he didn't sing it (Shocking!) but I've done my best to still capture the right vibe for the song.
On the previous album, the opening track was called "I Need you" and it touched on what was happening in the world around 2008-2010, with an added sense of optimism. "The Sun in the Storm" was the perfect follow-up. The world had changed tremendously since but we still need that optimistic mindset, that blind faith thinking that we can still make a difference. "No, I won't surrender, I'm a born survivor. Like the sun rides through the storm I'll keep on fighting."
It's my humble tip of the hat to those who are trying to change the world, one word at a time, one fight at a time, one soul at a time. I've recorded the drums (Greg Garman) in a recording studio in North Hollywood, the acoustic guitars and vocals at the iconic Sunset Sound (Thanks Morgan Stratton!) and all the rest at my home studio. It was mixed by my dear friend Jim Lowe and mastered by Brian Lucey.
We shot the video with my friend Mat at the El Mirage dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert. Such a beautiful and eerie place.

"SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY" (ACOUSTIC)

"Let it out" was released about a year ago!
To celebrate this, I wanted to share with you some more previously unreleased material.
This was recorded between Los Angeles and Paris. I've always adored the sound of the cello. The cello is said to have the same range as the human voice. This feature gives it the power to evoke instinctual emotions.
Mathilde Sigier made her instrument sing on this song!

"She Drives me Crazy" was released a year ago!
To celebrate this, I wanted to share with you an alternate music video.
It was shot a couple of years back. I was experimenting with concepts, ideas and video gears.
Shot in just 4 hours in a studio in North Hollywood, with a team of 2 people (including myself!), one camera and with a little help from my good friend Chelsea.

Here is a new lyric video. This one was fun to make!
I wrote this song about 4 years ago and it did evolve quite a lot before this final version. Greg Garman on the drums and yours truly for everything else.
Drums were recorded at Ultimate Studios, Inc in North Hollywood, some guitar parts were tracked in the south of France, some others in Los Angeles. Mixed by Jim Lowe in London and mastered by Brian Lucey in Los Angeles.

NEW VIDEO : "LET IT OUT"
When I was thinking about visuals for the new album, I started putting together ideas and concepts for videos. Instead of doing storyboards I would do very simple videos to get my point across before shooting an actual video.
2020 put the world on hold and the official videos never saw the light of day.
So I wanted to show you my "storyboard" for the song "Let it out".
Nothing fancy, no preparation, no team, just with the little help from a friend who was holding the camera on couple of shots, this video was just an attempt to capture the vibe of the song. It is what is it. I hope you guys like it!

It all started from there. Those simple words became my everyday mantra/philosophy. As I was writing this song, my goal was to inspire and unite people.
“I Need You” really means “we all need each other”. Only “us” can make a difference.
Here is an acoustic version of a song from the "Our Revolution" album. Always loved the song and what it meant and I felt it was the right time to record and release this more intimate version. I hope you guys like it.
2015 is behind us, it has been a tough one but I still wanna believe that 2016 will bring freedom, peace and happiness for all.
When life brings challenges, it also brings opportunities. “Time is always right to do what is right!”
